Hudson Landing answers a profound need for new housing in this area, and does so in a premier location that exemplifies Kingston’s and Ulster’s robust revival. In terms of new temporary and permanent employment, a much-needed boost in the economy, a significantly increased tax base, pristine public parks, improvements to existing infrastructure, reclamation to disturbed site areas, and an upgrade in quality of life thanks to a resident-friendly environment, the benefits to the people of Kingston and Ulster are as real — and as tangible — as the multiple dividends for the City of Kingston and Town of Ulster. The Hudson Landing build-out is a landmark investment… for residents, for Kingston, for the County of Ulster, and for New York.

THE REVISED NEOTRADITIONAL PLAN
The Development Program for Hudson Landing stems from the desire to create a "New Urbanist" community within the confines of the Hudson Landing site that transects outward into the fabric of the existing surrounding communities of Ponkockie, First Street & East Kingston. These communities which consist primarliy of small lot single family homes integrate well into the residential components of the Hudson Landing community with the proposed auto, pedestrian and open space linkages proposed for the project. In addition, the commercial components proposed within the project have been carefully sized so as to not detract from the existing retail and commercial base in the surrounding community. The wide array of housing proposed has the ability to support the onsite commercial as well as assist in the resurgence and revitalization of commercial and retial space in areas such as the Rondout and other areas within Kingston and the Town of Ulster.

PARKS
Generous riverbank acreage is developed for public use, including picturesque gazebos, winding bicycle paths, boat slips, hiking trails and a 1 mile long riverbank promenade; the surroundings allow residents and visiting tourists to take full advantage of the benefits of this vital community destination, offering, of course, direct access to the river.
RESIDENTIAL
Residential homes, condos and townhouses are built in the neotraditional style, with attractive traditional accents; driveways and parking are alley-loaded where possible to keep the look clean and visually appealing, and to promote neighborly strolls.
Commercial Space
Linear town retail space as well as destination retail shops are designed to provide a pleasurable main-street-type shopping experience, where residents and tourists can stroll with ease from store-to-store and to the riverfront; on-site dining options will provide additional value and convenience. Commercial space triggers the influx of businesses into the area, providing permanent, full-time employment for residents and tax revenue for the town. |
