Eternally at the top of the list of most common New Year's resolutions is the promise to lose weight or get back in shape. With so many people into all the outdoor activities Ulster County has to offer, many of you might always be in good shape. For those of you who aren't skiers, hikers and bikers, thank goodness for gyms and classes, right?

Ulster County is home to many quality gyms, community centers offering classes, yoga centers and more. The variety of offerings means that there's always some healthy way to stay in shape on a date and time convenient to anyone's schedule.

I have an exercise bicycle in my bedroom that alternates between effective workout and clothes hanger. My resolve isn't always as tight as I'd like, so I try to mix home exercise and something outside the home that I've made a commitment to, as insurance that I'll keep active.

Movement is the basis for wellbeing. So to help you get moving, here are some of the places I know. Let me know if you have a favorite that I've left out. Needless to say, these are in no special order.
