The Majestic Hudson River starts from humble beginnings as a small tarn on
the southwest slope of Mount Marcy, New York State’s highest peak.
“Lake Tear of the Clouds” as it is affectionately known, is a small mountain
side pond at the highest reach in the Hudson River basin. What starts
here as a drop of rain journeys about 350 miles and drops some 4,322 feet in
elevation to its destination, New York Harbor.
In September of 1609, Henry Hudson made his monumental journey up the Hudson
under the employ of the Dutch East India Company, starting the Hudson
River’s long history of Trade, Transportation and Industry.
From that point on, settlements large and small grew along the shore of the
river from Manhattan to Albany and beyond. Today, the river is seeing
a renaissance as a resource not only for work but a place to Live and Play.
As we approach the 400 year anniversary of Henry Hudson’s monumental journey
up this great river, a new community is emerging out of the ashes of
industry, on the shore of the Hudson…
